March is National Nutrition Month and while good nutrition is important for everyone, it's absolutely critical for diabetics. Natural supplements for diabetes are meant to work in conjunction with a good diet and proper exercise and can be broken into two broad groups: those used to help treat the disease and those used to help protect against the complications of the disease.

Diabetes is simply a disease in which your body can not properly regulate its sugar level. The sugar, glucose, is needed throughout your body to be used as fuel for the cells. Glucose is carried around throughout your body via your bloodstream. Insulin is the key that opens the doors to allow the glucose into your cells. If there are not enough "keys" to open the doors, or the doors are "rusty" and don't want to open, then the glucose will remain in our bloodstream.
